Defect library
The six surface defect classes Adam detects: what each one is, what causes it, why it escapes human inspection, and what makes it easy or hard to see with a camera. Written for the engineer who has to decide whether automated inspection is worth it.
Dent
Localised plastic deformation where the surface has been pushed in, often with a matching raised area on the opposite face.
Burr
A raised ridge or sliver of material left attached to an edge after cutting, drilling, milling or stamping.
Scratch
A linear mark where material has been abraded away, usually by contact with something harder than the part.
Pits Cluster
A group of small cavities in the surface, appearing together rather than as a single isolated void.
Rough Patch
A localised area where the surface finish is measurably worse than the surrounding surface.
Surface Anomaly
Anything on the surface that departs from what the part should look like but does not fall into one of the named categories.
You can run all six detectors on a photograph of your own part right now, with no sign-up.
